Music is the key to building an engaging radio station. The music on Gurgaon Ki Awaaz is its identity. A unique identity, that doesn’t let the station be confused with any of the 11 other FM stations broadcasting in Delhi-NCR. When listeners tune in, they invariably listen to folk music – Haryanvi raginis being sung by local mandalis, folk music in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Rajasthani and many dialects, bhajans by village women and songs by schoolchildren. So unique is this sound, so rooted to the land and collective community memory, that there has been an instant connect with the station. Not one listener asks for Hindi film music. Among many of our listeners we are known as the “ragini-wala channel”.

Geetmala is an hour-long program played daily that consists of folk music in a range of dialects, mostly from North India.

The Geetmala program feeds into the daily music request program Apni Pasand, a two-hour daily program in which listeners can request songs that they have heard through the day.
